There are millions of podcasts on the Internet, but there's only one podcast that gives you the chance to 'POD YOUR HEART OUT'

If there is one thing human resources professionals and business leaders learned from the COVID-19 pandemic and other global movements such as ‘Me Too’, ‘Times Up’, and Black Lives Matter movements, it is the importance of employee wellbeing, mental health, racial equality, pay equity, and social justice.

Or so one would think…

At the time of launching this website, below are just some of the things happening around the world:

  • An Olympic team coach has just committed suicide because of sexual misconduct allegations against him.
  • Australia is having its own version of a revived ‘Me Too’ movement.
  • The richest black rapper in the history of the United States is having a mental health breakdown.
  • A globally recognized politician is refusing to resign from his position despite waves of allegations of inappropriate behavior against him.
  • Millions of people are still jobless while billionaires are exponentially getting richer by the second.
  • Coronavirus fatigue due to global lockdowns has led to mental health crisis amongst children who still haven’t returned to school yet.
  • Discussions about racism against Asians is just unraveling into public space, and the list goes on and on, and on.

This is why PYHO podcast was born because it never gets too old to talk about racism in the workplace, about the importance of good governance and great leadership where everyone feels safe coming to work – about the importance of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace, and about the importance of why people matter. Why everyone (yes, that included minorities and marginalized people) should be counted in and embraced for who they are, and why it’s important to talk about all these topics openly, fearlessly, and continuously.

If this strikes a chord with you, then you are part of the ‘Pod Your Heart Out’ tribe!

PURPOSE - The Why?

The purpose, the main reason behind why a podcast like PYHO came to be is two-fold.

Firstly, it was to push me to get out of my comfort zone. I wanted to get out of my comfort zone and push myself into an unfamiliar territory.  I had been writing blogs for many years but it was time to stretch my boundaries from just writing blogs and on to speaking about the topics that interested me in HR & Leadership so that there is more of a dynamic conversation around the topic being discussed.

In order for this to expand as far as possible, the PYHO podcast is designed to be one of the most socially engaging podcasts on the Internet with daily new content spread out over multiple social media channels simultaneously AND fresh weekly episodes to keep the listeners engaged in various HR & Leadership topics.

Secondly, starting this podcast is also an opportunity for me to learn from other people around the world – HR professionals, business leaders, and the workers who deserve more than just a paycheck.

If you’re in the HR industry, you may have heard of the term, ‘putting human back into human resources’. Yes, that’s true, but I believe that we FIRST need to put HUMANITY back into human BEFORE putting human back into human resources.

AUDIENCE - The Who?

Simply put, ‘Pod Your Heart Out’ is a podcast about work and what happens in the workplaces around the world that make it to the news.

You’d be surprised to learn how many of the events that make it to the world news also happen to have a lot to do with HR & Leadership; these global events may go completely unnoticed by HR professionals and business leaders.

My goal is to bring these topics to the forefront of discussions in the PYHO podcast with people working in the field of human resources, business leaders and decision makers, and anyone who is interested in joining the discussion around best work practices.

It’s an opportunity to have an open platform where public topics and personal experiences are discussed with no holds barred.

VALUE - The What?

In case you’re wondering what value does listening to a podcast like PYHO bring to you as the listener, here’s a few hints outlined below:

  • HR Professionals: If you’re a certified HR professional from the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM®) or from the Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI®), you can add all the hours of listening to ‘Pod Your Heart Out’ podcast as part of your Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours. Not only do you get to engage and have your own say about a topic by interacting with the show’s public posts, you also get to help yourself grow professionally.
  • Business Leaders and Executives: How things operate in your company and what kind of behaviors are accepted in your work culture is entirely your responsibility – whether they are visible to you or not. For example, many people-related issues are easily solvable if only business leaders pay slight attention to what’s happening around them in the organization. Isn’t it always better to resolve an issue earlier on before it gets out of hand?
    • Listening to PYHO podcast can give you (and your leadership team) loads of tips and HR solutions that you may otherwise have to pay an external HR Consultant to help you with.
    • Moreover, leadership navigation and ethics is part of the competency framework of internationally recognized HR certifications – so who wouldn’t want their leaders and management teams to adhere to HR practices that are internationally recognized and respected?
  • Managers and Decision Makers: You can make the topics discussed in PYHO as part of your weekly team meeting talking points to break the ice and get your team’s opinion on what they thought about the latest episode. By making this a regular practice, you give your team the opportunity to engage and bring up healthy ideas that may help improve your work environment. Why hire an external HR Consultant when your own employees may well have all the brightest and brilliant ideas? All they may be waiting for is a leader who gives them the opportunity to speak and someone who would listen to them. So go on, give them the opportunity to ‘Pod THEIR Hearts Out’.
  • Everyone Else: If you’ve ever worked a day in your life, you should be listening to ‘Pod Your Heart Out’ podcast because people need to be aware of their rights at work. You, as an employee, should be aware of what’s happening in the world of work and understand how things that don’t even remotely seem to be related to HR & Leadership, are things that have everything to do with HR and Leadership. As a working person, you have the right to be informed and once you are informed, you are better equipped to make better choices in progressing yourself professionally.
